The 11:00 a.m. conference was held in a first floor conference room at the Norfolk General Hospital. The arrangements were made by Vernon Jones, the part time public relations man for the Norfolk General Hospital. He wrote out a statement for me to read. The other members of the medical staff were behind the table at the front of the room. The statement was, “It’s a girl. At 7:43 a.m. this morning, Elizabeth Jordan Carr, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roger Carr of Westminster, Massachusetts, was delivered successfully by a Cesarean section by Dr. Mason Andrews. Dr. Frederick Wirth, the pediatrician says Elizabeth is quite normal.
